Does my whole house need repointing?
Usually not. Mortar fails first on the most weather-exposed elevations — typically the south and west faces. We'll assess the whole property and quote for what genuinely needs doing, not a blanket repoint.
What is lime mortar and does my house need it?
Most properties built before the 1930s were laid in lime mortar, which stays flexible and lets the wall breathe. Repointing these with hard cement traps moisture and causes bricks to spall. If your property is of that age, lime is almost always the right answer — we'll confirm on inspection.
Can you source reclaimed bricks for repairs?
Yes, we regularly source reclaimed brick for period repairs and matching work. Where reclaimed stock isn't available or suitable, we'll find the closest modern equivalent and blend it so the repair doesn't stand out.
Will repointing work need scaffolding?
Anything above ground-floor height usually does, and we include scaffolding in the quote so there are no surprises. Smaller, lower repairs can often be done from access towers, which keeps the cost down.
